“Leiden Together” connects organizations and activities in the field of inclusion and equality
Under the label Samen Leiden, various Leiden organizations unite their activities for a more inclusive and equal Leiden. In this way they make the activities organized in the city more visible and recognizable. The label was launched on March 21 during the City Discussion, Leiden against racism.
It is the municipality's wish to invest together with its partners in an inclusive and equal city. Where everyone feels at home, accepted and safe. Because racism, sexism, LGBTQ+ discrimination and other forms of discrimination also occur in Leiden. Research shows that people from the LGBTIQ+ community do not always feel comfortable on the street in Leiden, for example because they are being shouted at. People of non-Western origin experience discrimination when looking for a job or an internship. And people with physical disabilities do not always have access to public buildings.
Everyone can use the label in communicating about activities and events that revolve around strengthening inclusion and equality. In this way, various organizations connect their activities in the areas of:
Combating racism and discrimination.
Combating discrimination against LGBTIQ+.
Promoting accessibility (also for invisible limitations).
Promoting gender equality.
